Weaving Our Industry

To make a complex story or pattern from a number of interconnected elements

A Message from the President

I have reflected recently on the interconnectedness that the AECO industry really requires to be successful. We don't work in a vacuum alone, we are a team based industry full of interconnected elements. I have enjoyed getting back out, meeting new members, hearing from old members and talking to people who are passionate about working with other people for the betterment of our industry and community.

Networking reminds me of weaving, each person you meet becomes part of your structure or fabric even if you just meet them briefly. The more people you meet the bigger your basket or blanket can be, letting you hold or cover more.  The more you get to know those people the tighter your weave becomes, keeping things from falling thru the cracks or keeping you warmer, cozier, happier.

I like to think about each person I have the pleasure of interacting with as part of my complex story.  I never know when or how or why we might cross paths again, whether its for help with a challenge I might have or being able to help someone else connect with that person for something they might need. Either way I really see networking not as a chore or a means to the end result, but as ever evolving, growing and improving my ability to do amazing, rewarding, successful work.

I hope this sparks in you the desire to come out see what is going on in your community learn more, meet others and continue to strive to weave your complex structure not only with Portland CSI, but across our industry partners and organizations. As always if you see me out please say 'Hello' I'd love to weave you into my complex story!
 Best Wishes,
 Kourtney Strong
 Portland CSI Chapter President

Member Notice of Bylaws Update

The Chapter Board recently approved minor bylaw revisions. This change removed the line about setting our own chapter dues to bring us in conformance with the Institute Affiliation Agreement. It also removed the “s” after Specifications to match the name we have registered with the Oregon Secretary of State. Since these changes are non-material revisions to correct typos and conform to Institute rules we did not need member approval, just a 2/3 affirmative vote of the Board. The changes were approved unanimously. Any questions please reach out to office@portlandcsi.org.
